What are The Definitions and Test Content of LM79, ISTMT and TM21?

LM 79 is an approved method of Electrical and Photometric Measurements of Solid-State Lighting Products, describes the procedures to be followed and precautions to be observed in performing reproducible measurements of total luminous flux, electrical power, luminous intensity distribution, and chromaticity, of solid-state lighting(SSL) products for illumination purposes, under standard conditions.

In general, LM 79 report always used as bidding reference documents, TUV Rheinland or similar laboratories can issue the report, 1pc sample, application period about 7-10 working days.

ISTMT is the measurement of the LED source case temperature within the LED system (luminaire or lamp) while it is operating in it designed position and or environment (In "SITUation"). The measurement is performed at the temperature measurement point (Tc Point) indicated by the LED package manufacturer.

OSHA approved NRTLs or DOE CALiPER Recognized or UL Data Acceptance Program laboratories or NVLAP Accredited laboratories for UL1598 Sec. 19.7 and 19.10-16. It is typically performed at the same time as LM-79-08 testing. All GREEN CREATIVE products go through ISTMT in a recognized laboratory and reports are typically available upon request from the luminaire manufacturer.

TM21 is the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) approved method for taking LM-80 data and making useful LED lifetime projections. It proves a recommendation for projecting long term lumen maintenance of LED light sources using LM-80-08 lumen maintenance data. The standards apply to lifetime projection of LED package, array or module alone. The results can then be used to interpolate the lifetime of an LED source within a system (luminaire or integrated lamp) using the In-SITU LED source case temperature.
