Mention to the tennis site area, the standard tennis site cover more than 670 square meters, most about 120.08 inches *60.04 inches, then around is a backstop or wall. The uniform illumination on tennis courts is better vision for the player, they would not hinder by any objects. Cause Tennis is a high-speed sport, the ball may be temporarily out of sight due to the glow of light sources or a low contrast background when the boll is frying in the air, the lighting levels and the direction of light both on the balls and on the players are very crucial, therefore, good visibility needing the proper post placement and orientation.

Usually, there are 8 lights installed in the tennis, each producing a total of 40, 000 lumens of light each. And most of them are 300 watts which lighting more sufficient. But to thoughtfully, we should design the illumination according to the standard USTA and standard UNE-EN.

There are may some differences between standard USTA and UNE-EN in the lighting of sports facilities.

 

United States Tennis Association and Illuminating Engineering Society (IES)

The lighting level setting is according to different levels of competition, these levels are split into four broad categories as below:

 

Class 1. Professional grade: 125-foot candles/ 1250lux

Class 2.College and medium level:75-100-foot candles/ 750-1000 lux

Class 3. High school and private clubs: 50-75-foot candles /500- 750lux

Class 4. Recreational: 30-50-foot candles / 300-500 lux

 

Standard UNE-EN 12193 and will have the following minimum levels

 

Class 1. International and national competitions: 750lux horizontal illumination, 0.7 uniformity
Class2. Regional competitions, high-level training: 500 lux horizontal illumination, 0.7 uniformity
Class3. Local competitions, training, school, and recreational use: 300 lux horizontal illumination, 0.7 uniformity.
